A security officer at a Tucson convenience store shot and killed a man Monday night after witnessing him shoot a woman during an argument, police say.
The shootings happened about 9:45 p.m. at a Quik Trip store in the 1400 block of South Alvernon Way, south of East 22nd Street, Tucson police said Tuesday in a news release.
Officers arrived to find Isaiah Brewster, 23, unresponsive and a 28-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to her lower extremities, the release said.
Brewster died at the scene. The woman was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, the release said. No one else was wounded.
Witnesses told police that Brewster had been arguing with a couple in the parking when he pulled a gun and shot the woman. People told the security guard who went outside, saw the confrontation then shot Brewster, the release said.
Police did not identify the security officer.
No charges were filed in the case, though police will submit their findings to the Pima County Attorney’s Office for review, the release said.
